On a side note, Impulse crashes every time I open it since I installed the RC. Huh?

Unfortunately, RC (Release Candidate) isn't the same as BF (Bug Free).

on Feb 10, 2011

You got that right. It should be a distinct improvement over previous versions what with all the hype and stuff.

Really? Gasp. I never knew.

On a more serious note, I love it. I've already enabled tracking protection and I think the 64 bit version is performing acceptably now.

Only thing I don't like is it's still more difficult to use feeds than it should be. Bah. Weird when websites provide ten different ways to subscribe to feeds but fail to accomodate bog standard methods.

Firefox will be following with tracking protection also...

We've reproduced the crashing and are working on an update to fix the problem.

IE9 Release Candidate Will Cause Impulse to Crash - 2/10/2011
Expires Feb 11, 2011 3:38

With today's release of the Internet Explorer 9 Release Candidate, we have found compatibility issues that will cause Impulse to crash any time web content is displayed (Explore Tab, Community Tab, EULA or History windows).

We are working to resolve the compatibility problem as fast as we can.  For the time being, please do NOT upgrade your machine to the IE9 RC.

If you clicked on the Explore or Community Tab, and are now immediately crashing when launching Impulse, you can change your default starting tab by doing the following:

  1. Open RegEdit
  2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\ComponentManager\Settings
  3. Change the "LastTab" value to "7" (My Games Tab)
  4. Restart Impulse

This announcement will be replaced with a new one when the issue has been resolved.

I was in no hurry to upgrade.  I will just wait for awhile.  Maybe after I do SP1 for Windows 7 on the 22nd, now that sounds like a plan.

I was. All the major browsers bug me. Firefox 4 still doesn't seem as fast as it should be last I used it (and pushed the official 64 bit version back, apparently) and I don't need plugins, Chrome doesn't do feeds terribly well (extensions or no, last I checked,) Opera advertises at me...

I liked Chrome best until now, but the lack of feeds thing really annoys me.

I wouldn't use IE if it came with complimentary white russians.. for life.

Yeah, right...

Does it replace EI8? Duh, stoopid question, I know. Secondly, is there a watermark?

EI8.....!

Does it replace EI8?

I've been using IE9 since it was first available and it certainly wasn't ready for prime time then..... though it was fine with Impulse.

It made the 'admin tools' on Wincustomize quaint-buttons-that-did-nothing,

It stripped the content of a Personal Message....so you were shooting blanks.

It killed the tab if you used the back arrow while in a Google page.

I'm sure there were other issues...but those were the ones that made it 'entertaining'.

I'll load the RC just to see if they've fixed that lot....at least....

Oh...and almost always you have to post a thread comment twice.....the first time fails.
